چکیده

Ground-ivy ( Glechoma hederacea L.) is a widespread stoloniferous plant that grows in several ecologically diverse habitats: the open, at forest edge, and understorey. The vegetation of ground-ivy habitats was studied NE Slovenia terms floristic richness diversity, biological spectrum, phytogeography syntaxonomy. We identified five clusters distinct with occurrence ground-ivy, differentiated according to environmental conditions flora composition: eutrophic edges, trampled habitats, forests, which are divided into two groups different soil moisture, meadows. were assessed using Ellenberg indicator values, thus confirming ecological differentiation habitats. coexists 169 species from 49 families. highest Shannon diversity found meadows (100 species), while lowest (12 species). Plant coexisting belong 10 geoelements circumboreal, sub-cosmopolitan, Euro-Caucasian Eurasian represented all most life form hemicryptohytes up 88 % per relevé. syntaxon Molino-Arrhenatheretea dominates meadows, shrub edges Rhamno-Prunetea , Querco-Fagatea predominates forests. Ruderal Stellarietea mediae occurred except understorey where light limiting factor. A non-negligible proportion belongs Galio-Urticetea community characteristic an optimal habitat for ground-ivy.

Cultural and Chemical Control of Ground Ivy (Glechoma hederacea)

Ground ivy is a common broadleaf weed that disrupts turf uniformity and is diffi cult to control. The objective of this fi eld research was to evaluate cultural and chemical control of ground ivy. Increasing annual nitrogen fertilizer applications from 0 to 196 and 293 kg·ha–1 reduced ground ivy cover by 24% and 32%, respectively. At 26 weeks after treatment, 1.1 kg·ha–1 isoxaben applied in May...

Carbohydrate specificity of an insecticidal lectin isolated from the leaves of Glechoma hederacea (ground ivy) towards mammalian glycoconjugates.

Preliminary studies indicated that the potent insecticidal lectin, Gleheda, from the leaves of Glechoma hederacea (ground ivy) preferentially agglutinates human erythrocytes carrying the Tn (GalNAcalpha1-Ser/Thr) antigen. However, no details have been reported yet with respect to the fine specificity of the lectin. To corroborate the molecular basis of the insecticidal activity and physiologica...

Enzyme variation and inheritance in Glechoma hederacea (Lamiaceae), a diploidized tetraploid.

The chromosome number of the polyploid species Glechoma hederacea was found to be 2n = 36 in a sample of 93 ramets derived from 27 sites in N and C Europe. Variation in 10 enzymes was surveyed in material from S Sweden and S Czech Republic. The genetic control of variation was investigated using segregating progeny from crosses and self-fertilized heterozygous plants. The genetic analysis compr...

rDNA Loci Evolution in the Genus Glechoma (Lamiaceae)

Glechoma L. (Lamiaceae) is distributed in eastern Asia and Europe. Understanding chromosome evolution in Glechoma has been strongly hampered by its small chromosomes, constant karyotype and polyploidy. Here phylogenetic patterns and chromosomal variation in Glechoma species are considered, using genome sizes, chromosome mapping of 5S and 35S rDNAs by fluorescence in situ hybridisation (FISH), a...

AM fungi patchiness and the clonal growth of Glechoma hederacea in heterogeneous environments

The effect of AM fungi spatial distribution on individual plant development may determine the dynamics of the whole plant community. We investigated whether clonal plants display, like for other resources, a foraging or a specialization response, to adapt to the distribution of AM fungi. Two separate experiments were done to investigate the response of Glechoma hederacea to a heterogeneous dist...
